Construction of the Garden originated from the idea of Balinese culture development center of Balinese art initiated by Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Matra when serving as Director-General for culture, Ministry of culture and national education in 1969.
Occupying a land area of 5 hectares, the Park Balinese culture was initially named "Art Center" which can be meant as an Arts Centre or the art center. The construction of this planned cultural park with very mature and serious. The buildings are beautifully furnished. The construction of the Park Balinese culture adapted the philosophical meaning of the rotation Mount Mandara Giri, which is implemented in the name of the buildings in the complex.
The main building in the complex Grounds of Balinese culture named Ksirarnawa. The name is derived from the Sanskrit meaning of the ocean of milk.
